music A Two Hundred Year Old Lullaby

Lullabies become appealing to ears and soul not only because of the brilliance of the expressive poetic expressions that lie within the lines, but also due to the mind-cooling melodious tunes in which they are composed and rendered! However, one cannot just discount the intense passion of the lines through which the involved story of the lullaby is weaved! Lullaby will become alluring and amenable to the rhythmic modulations of music, only when the story is expressed in a magical way; then it will capture the attention of every listener. Even grown-up individuals feel mesmerized when they hear the harmonious rhythm of a pleasant lullaby! In fact, listening to a nicely created lullaby is one of the
practical ways to get rid of the accumulated mental weariness in a pleasing manner!
I wish to share with my readers, the ecstasy that I am able to experience even now by listening to one of the famous lullabies in Malayalam language, which is titled as 'Omana Thingal Kidavo'. My mother had told me that she had sung this sweet lullaby for us, her children, half a century before, and my wife had sung the same for our daughter. Now, we sing this lullaby for our granddaughter! For sure, the intense addiction to this song will keep on going in this part of the world in a relentless manner, because, the language used is extremely powerful, and enchanting to the core! No mother or father will be able to address their baby in much more affectionate ways!
'Omana Thingal Kidavo' is 200 years old, but even now this lullaby is sung to pacify the present-day babies! All interested individuals can Google 'Omana Thingal Kidavo' to know the historical significance and to hear the related audio; so many versions of the same are available. A. H. Fox Strangways, the famous English musicologist had translated it this lullaby in an effective manner and you can find this translation also by searching through the online sources.
There will be similar magical lullabies in almost all languages all over the world, and generations might have accepted and embraced them with extreme passion. If some of the readers can come forward and write a few lines about the immortal lullabies that are familiar to them, it will be a great tribute to the respective languages, and also to the original composers. I sincerely hope that at least some readers will be willing to do this historically relevant job through this august platform.
